Hi all
As I am down here in Australia, we never get to see or hear anything that you guys host over there. Is there and updated show to the one that I have which is mainly about The Harrington brother and what lengths he went to, to get a bill passed in parliament?
Is there anyway that we as a group can get more publicity on this case as some people and colleagues that I have spoken to have never heard of this case. Which is very sad.
Is there a new updated show regarding our man and if so, how do I, down here in Aus get one?
Furthermore as we are in the Hosp post, I believe that he was more likely to be a patient rather than a worker. I believe that he may have been seeing the same counsellors that Mz Cruz was seeing.

Keep watching that episode, I learn something new every time I watch it.
you got that right Ista. I first saw the CCF episode about a month ago when it re-aired. and since then I've watched it several times. I pick up on new things every time I watch it. It's very sad to see the pictures of the victims. I want this guy caught! (as do all of us)

Mr. Witthuhn was only in the hospital for a 2 or 3 day period due to a viral infection. There are post and newspaper articles that report this.
As to the position of Mrs. Witthuhn at the bank, that has been discussed before. Keep watching that episode, I learn something new every time I watch it.

I have, on several occasions, tried to bring out new and additional information on these cases and have been "rudely" responded to. Both on this web-site and another. To the point that I refrain from putting any additional information forward and will pass the information along off site.
One of the points I would like to pass along, for those who are interested, it has long been suggested that Mrs. Witthuhn was a loan officer, and she may have been at some point, if you look closely at the police report on the A&E Cold Case File Show of The Original Night Stalker, you will see at the time of her death she was a bank teller.
Being an employee of a Bank is why the FBI was brought in on the investigation of her murder. Standard procedure.
This could eliminate a possible RE connection in one of the ONS murders. I could deliberate further, but I won't.*****

Speaking of Manuela....2 things I was wondering about...
-How long had Mr Witthuhn (Irvine) been in the hospital at the time of the attack? Was it common knowledge in the Witthuhn circle that he was ill? Or had he just been admitted into the hospital that day or the day before or something?
-On the CCF episode, when they show one of the police reports, it states Manuela was a bank teller. In the articles it states she was a loan officer. Either way, a bank is a perfect place for the EAR-ONS or any other creep to find their next victim. I hope the authorities canvassed the bank's customers where MW worked.

Irvine has shared with us that the hospital connection was researched extensively. Here is an article that discusses Lyman Smith's firm's involvement in medical malpractice suits:

The Smith's had the aviation(Maverick) and real estate(Charlene was decorating a condo for sale, Alsip and Lyman had been involved in real estate development) connections that are also seen scattered throughout other Ears ONs crimes.
I have been told that the Smith neighborhood is not one that would be easily found by pulling off the freeway. I also believe that Patrice Harrington and Manuela Witthuhn may have been followed home.
Does anyone know of homes for sale in the Harrington's neighborhood or Witthuhn's at the time of the crimes? Were there Orange County reports of questionable home viewers, as was seen in several Ears crimes?

portofleith, likewise I would think that a car parked (back then) in a mall parking lot would have attracted a lot of attention as well.

Was the park there then or created after the hospital was demolished? This article makes it sound like the park was built over part of the former hospital facility?
To mark the spot of the former hospital, Reed, Pratt and others have collected donations and have constructed a commemorative marker as a monument to the hospital.The rock with a brass plaque recently was installed at Gibbons Drive and Gibbons Park Way. The rock is on the northwest corner of an overflow parking area for the community center.
"It is 40 yards from where the emergency room was. I used to park there along with the patients," Reed said.
I think any hospital parking lot surrounded by a greenbelt could be considered hunting grounds. Again, you can't leave a car parked in a park all night without attracting LE attention- you could leave a car in a hospital parking lot and retrieve it at 6:00 am without attracting alot of attention.

Portofleith, Park right across the street. In those days it would of been easy to watch from many places in that area too. Could of prowled easily. Did not have to work there. Recently that park was used for many sexual assaults on one victim. Very dark and secluded to this day.

Why American River Hospital instead of Mercy San Juan hospital, which has a creek bed off the back parking lot, along which a cluster of rapes occurred? (follow JJ's google earth map.)
We have in detail discussed the hospital, military, computer programming and student aspects of Ears ONS.
Where are you guaranteed to find young attractive women? College campuses, hospitals, shopping centers. Where can you park a car all night without drawing police attention? College campuses, hospitals and shopping parking lots.
Where can you stalk without calling attention to yourself at street level? Dry creek beds, parks, other green belts.
Janelle Cruz was a student at a community college at the time of her death. Why do we think that Ears ONS didn't just troll places where he could find the women he wanted. Why did he have to work there?

Hello all
You are on the right path.
I have been told that the perp did at some time work in a hosp.
I have always believed in this fact. I believed this is how he graduated from Rape to Murder. This is how he choose his victims. Through the hospital.
He knew he would be safe in the environment he created and that he would escape capture because he knew the case history of each person he intended to murder.
I also think that one murder where he was seen and there are two pictures are not related to the ONS. This I believe is a copycat or totally not related.
I also believe he was around 17/18 when he first started and as he grew older grew courage to murder through neccessity as the victims knew him through hospital links. I have spoken to several people of importance and they also believe this.

Someone he knew could have been a patient there. Sometimes that's all a sicko needs a pass in the hall way and a smile.
Did someone come back and offer to buy coffee and lend a ear?

Was there family in and out of hospitals? some mothers take their kids to Doctors for everything.
Cancer? kidney/liver problems? pshyciatric problems? addiction problems? Some families that hide problems are chronic Doctor users. If there is a on going medical problem digging too deep finacially someone might make friends in the medical community and find work, doing as much as they can on the job training.
Manipulation could be a big part of the family survival.

Aldrin, Back in 1981 this avenue was pursued with LE in-depth for all employees of the hospital I was in. Later the Cold Case Squad, now shut down, went even further with that angle to no avail. Not to discount if this person has medical or police activity knowledge. I believe he does or did. However I don't think to find him this way will pan out.
