Thank you. I am so grateful to have found the Intervention board. There are very few boards around that are open and offer so much. I have been helped emmensely here and I know that others are also being served. I hope we can just keep moving forward with our recoveries. Love misty714 --

i totally agree misty. that's a good way to think of nonsensical posts as a mosquito to be brushed off. the bigger a deal is made of it, the more it adds fuel to whatever fire lights her up! i have found this forum to be made up of very mature and caring people, dealing with mature and important subjects. i'm thankful that there's only one troll to deal with. i'm guessing the mods don't feel they need to step in and moderate anything because we're surely capable of moderating ourselves. i agree that the personal attack was uncalled for and unnecessary, and THAT should be taken care of....but as for the nonsense, "oh well, whatever, nevermind"

That's not likely to happen - Don't let this upset you.
We all have faults - some are just alittle more obvious
than others and some just alittle more bothersome,
but we are bigger than that aren't we? To err is human - to forgive is devine. unfortunately I don't have my wings or halo yet. I love you Sills, just ignore.

Personally I don't think they care one way or another,
unless in their opinion it's really vulgar or something.
I think they are out on break, no one is on-line at the moment. What happens when you do ignore? I never
tried it before - but I'd rather ignore than get angry -
angry does not look well on me.

re: buttercups...

you are right kathyk that you can't yell fire in a crowd and justify it with free speech, but she does have the right to post whatever she wants within AE's guidelines/terms of use. as far as threats go you are right that they should not be tolerated, but as far as interjecting nonsense, i don't see that as a violation of the rules. in every day life we come across people who we don't agree with or don't get along with. we're all adults here, it shouldn't be that difficult to just ignore her posts. i don't feel it's fair to buttercups to have to be "moderated" because her posts are of differing opinions or make no sense at all. as i've said before, she has just as much a right to post here as anyone else. and excuse me for saying this, but if someone is too afraid to post for fear of some bullcrap response from buttercups, then...we all come across people like this in our daily lives and we can't just eradicate them because they annoy us or make no sense. it seems fairly obvious that she's seeking attention by ticking everybody off, so just ignoring her is going to be the key.

MY PERSONAL OPINION!

As much as I have tried to take up for Buttercups, I
know that Kathy is right technically speaking. There
are many people here with serious issues, people who
are hurting and desperatley want help. Some for what
ever reason can't go anywhere else - they must have
the anonemity of this forum. You know the real truth
is we could be talking to just about anyone. and buttercups seems to enjoy making no sence I don't
know if it makes sense to her or not. maybe she's
tying to reach out i don't know - IF you are BC PM
me. we will try to deal with your issues together, if
not well ------------ I can't help - and you are hindering others. That's all I got.

Excellent research, KathyK, and I agree whole-heartedly. I feel as if Buttercups is mocking addicts in general. I don't know, maybe she has a problem, like say, additon to posting anything!!! Prayers from Sillsygirl xoxoxoxoxo

MOD Squad Help

Jul 8, 2008 3:30 PM
It's not within my MO to call out a posse on anyone but I do believe we need an intervention from the moderators (pun intended).

You can see from Momasita's and MyDogDidntDoIt's posts how distracting, upsetting and hurtful these silly and nonsense posts by Buttercups can be to people seeking help. How many more Momasitas are out there but are reluctant to post because of minimizing the pain of addiction by inane comments?

A&E has graciously given us many fantasy discussions (Chris Angel, Mindfreak, etc.) where imaginations can run wild, but the Intervention discussion should not be one.

MyDogDidntDoIt said Buttercup's threat to her was deleted. During a discussion of drug abuse, Buttercups offered up that Obama likes Bob Dylan. That is degrading to posters asking for help. We now have two clear violations of the Standard of Conduct as set forth below:

A&E Television Networks — Terms of Service

5. Rules of Conduct
While using any of the Websites you will comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. In addition, AETN expects the users of the Websites and Services to respect the rights and dignity of others. Your use of the Websites and Services is conditioned on your compliance with the following Rules of Conduct.

You will not:

Post, transmit, or otherwise make available, through or in connection with any Website or Service, anything that is or may be (i) threatening, harassing, degrading, hateful, or intimidating; (ii) defamatory; (iii) fraudulent or tortious; (iv) obscene, indecent, pornographic, or otherwise objectionable.....[emphasis added]

In addition, according to the A&E Television Networks Community Standards, Buttercups is in violation of #7--spamming--which is, essentially, unwanted or unsolicited messages in electronic format.

Yes, there is freedom of speech but that doesn't give anyone the right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Yes, there is the ignore button but 90% of the A&E population shouldn't have to use it on the ONE person. And sometimes the damage is done before someone realizes they can ignore. In some cases it may hinder new people from joining altogether for fear of being made fun of. I don't believe that's what AETN intended.

If and when Buttercups would like to seriously address how addiction has affected her life we will be here with open arms. Until then, please mods, help give all of us a small part of the peace we so crave and let us continue to help one another without these goofy interruptions. Thank you.

Do you detach from enablers of the addict?
Do you detach from the sick family members (enabelers) of the drug addict. The enablers included your whole family. Ur drug addict brother steals to support habbit. Its our familys 400lb elephant in the room.
