Don't be afraid to add color to the kitchen walls. A nice deep rust red would add the punch you are looking for.

If you are renting, why are you staging? Is there a problem with the local rental market? I've never heard of staging for a rental and dh and I have done rentals for years as landlords.

However that said, here is my thoughts, without seeing the pics.

That look is quite urban chic, just add in some stainless steel in a back splash or if you are changing out the appliances. It lends itself well to adding in a pop of whatever the colour of the moment is, in a few hit accessories.

The demographic it appeals to would be the condo market, which is young urban and single with a good job.

You asked about white, yes in a black and white type kitchen white is appropriate, again with some hits of stainless steel, (there is a new formica type countertop that looks like steel and is a bit cheaper and easier to maintain) and some colour of the moment.

However white thru the whole place needs a ton of texture to make it look good. White on white relies on texture contrast to keep it looking up to date.

It can look quite boring or out of date if all it is, is a blank white space.

Some of the tans, and taupes look quite good.

Check out the Pottery Barn site for ideas. Their books (look into local bookstores and check the back pages) have a listing of paint colours used.

What to do with kitchen

I just wanted to confirm, but this kitchen is out of date, right?

Its got glossy black cabinets, black horizontal blinds, and black and white tiles.

What would I need to do to this kitchen if I'm trying to rent out my uncle's condo?

Would I need to paint over the black cabinets? Or, does it work since you've got black blinds and the black and white tiles?

And, there's also two pull down shades in the kitchen, but I'm not sure if I should remove them. One of them acts as a door to the kitchen. The other one is where the window opening between the kitchen and the dining room. In both cases, even when they're up, they still hang a few inches.

If I'm not painting the rest of the condo white, should I paint the kitchen's wall white since the theme of it seems to be white and black?

Thanks for any help.
