A&E Discussion Boards Are Moving
Since you are devoted members of the A&E community, we’d like to let you know of some changes that will be taking place on our network discussion boards. Coming this October, we will be moving the A&E discussion boards to an easier, more flexible platform. This exciting update will allow us to improve and expand your experience as a user with improved board functionality and robust member profiles. When the new community is ready, we will be turning off the ability to post here, but you’ll still be able to read the current boards. We have also set up a forum where we’ll be answering questions about the upcoming transition. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. We will be sure to keep you updated as we make the transition.

My greatest prayer, to be honest, is that I NEVER HEAR OF ANYTHING EVIL going on in the military....

DO......do you never watch the news or read a newspaper???? Do you have your head stuck in the sand?

If we can find God anywhere, why did we find it important to organize it?

Well, anyway......

My greatest prayer, to be honest, is that I NEVER HEAR OF ANYTHING EVIL going on in the military....because alot of people depend on them to save them when needed and they are god at that moment in time....just my opinion, but, that's an evil that needs to be rooted out
and handled.

hi ace. thank you, that makes sense!

hiya sue. what you said makes sense too! especially the being there for the newcomer part. and i don't blame you a bit for giving yourself some time before going to the meetings, you had probably been living on straight pins and needles until allison finally got on that plane, so it's completely understandable that you would need a break.

oooo, aldo is one of my favorite stores lol. and i love me some platforms!

alright y'all, well have a good day!!

I thought of Allison last night. I heard on the scanner, LE was taking into custody, a young woman that was addicted to inhalants like Allsion was. This mental health person said this woman had inhaled 10 large cans of cleaner in 48 hours. They were going to take her to the hospital to get her help. I hope she gets it.

DO, once again your insight is rite on track. Yes there
is evil also in churches. That is why it says to beware
of false prophets. and evil does exist everywhere, I
pray for knowledge to recognize it when it tries to sneek up on me, and one of my favorite "churches"
is a creek bank when I have rod and reel in hand.
You are rite you can find God anywhere.

It's good to go to church to fight off the enemy, but that can be VERY VERY TRICKY, because sometimes the ENEMY is at church,

middle easterners can attest to this...alot of church goers can attest to this...

evil exists everywhere...but that is good information...

my backyard is my church!!!

Perfectly said Ace! It is like going to church. It's also nice to welcome newcomers that were like myself going for the first time. After Al went to treatment, I just needed a mental break. I went after a couple of months, I just needed to clear my head before I started filling it up again. I probably should have gone right away, but I wasn't ready. I do keep up with my reading, in the Al-Anon books if I don't go every week.
It is the best free resource.
Werked,
Those shoes! She is about 2 heads taller than me in those! I asked her, she got them at Aldo. They must be comfortable, because she wears them alot. They are a platform w/ a spike heel.
Take care

Hey worked, I think it's alittle like going to church.
You continue to go to keep your spititual strenght up,
and keep your ability to fight off the enemy honed.

with alanon you keep your knowledge growing and
you keep reinforcements for your own strength at
hand - there are always new ideas new things to
gain and new people to meet and all of that kinda
broadens your horizions - that my take on it anyway.

hi sue! :-x

"I felt like slacking a bit, thinking, Ok, my sis has been clean a year, I don't need to keep up with that stuff, she's cured, etc."

that is exactly why i was asking if you still attended meetings! it seems to me that if you have been going to meetings over a year, then you yourself would be pretty far down the path of recovery and wouldn't really need to go to meetings anymore, whether your sister was sick or not. so i guess i wonder what is the reasoning behind continuing to go after so long? clearly i've never been to an al-anon meeting, lol. (but i have been to lots of na/ca meetings!)

i want you to know that i am proud of *you*!!!! the interventionists often try to encourage an addicts' enablers to get well whether their addict gets well or not. too few family members actually do, and for that, i am proud of you! it really seems to make every body a lot healthier and happier. did your mom ever attend al-anon meetings?

oh, and when allison first got home, she was wearing the hottest pair of shoes i've seen in a while, do you know who they're by??

okay, well ttyl8r!
take care...

Hey Werked,
Funny you mentioned Halloween! I just came in from decorating the outside of my house! I don't go too cucko with the decorations, but I LOVE the houses that do! We have some houses here that look like Las Vegas during Halloween and x-mas! So fun! Yes, Al-Anon is the way to go! If I have stuff going on and can't make the meeting I always read. I read every day. The Al-Anon books are great sources of information and support. I said in the follow-up show to read everyday, even if you can't make a meeting. I said to even leave the books in your bathroom, you go there everyday, so read a bit! That part didn't make it in. I felt like slacking a bit, thinking, Ok, my sis has been clean a year, I don't need to keep up with that stuff, she's cured, etc. That's not true, if you go to meetings and read, when the time comes that you need your Al-Anon skills, you're ready!
ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. Hope you are well!
And please, if you or anyone has any more questions, nosy or not, I'll be happy to answer!

aceintern: i did take a few moments to peruse the message board you linked. i'm amazed at how many people are dealing with these types of issues. i'm also amazed at how many innocuous products have the potential to be abused! it's such a scary thing. allison's story was the first i had ever heard of someone being addicted to inhalants. it really is a silent epidemic, because it completely took me by surprise to see how many people out there are struggling with this. all the attention, focus, and $$ is spent on the "harder" drugs that we are all familiar with. the inhalant thing is not the front runner yet. so sad. thank you for posting the links.

sue: thank you for saying i can be nosy, LOL. that sounds really fun! goofy sister stuff is always a blast. my own sister is goo-goo-ga-ga over halloween, you should see the 45+ pictures she sent me of her entire yard decorated. it's ridiculous. y'all be safe and have a good time. it has to be absolutely wonderful to have your sister back, finally! are you still going to your meetings? is it al-anon? again with the nosiness. :-p
