I just wanted to let you know that I have been watching your show and have set my DVR to record every episode. You have a GREAT show and I think every business owner should tune in so they could learn a thing or two from your show. I am also a business owner who owns and operates an advertising agency on a local basis in Texas, and your show always gives me that dejavue feeling. It always amazes me how clients will ask for our opinion(s) and yet rarely accepts them. (like Brownstone Pizza) Only to have their doors close in less then 6 months. (I give Brownstone less then 3 months) However, I did want to point out to the show that while you do an EXCELLENT job of revamping and improving the "look" and technology of any given business, I have not seen a lot of discussion with the business owners regarding the proper marketing of their businesses. While you DO have the owners go out into the local neighborhood to "share their wares" (an excellent idea for any business that has the time and resources to do so) there has not been any discussion(s) about long term marketing thru local media sources such as newspapers, local newsletters, or even direct mail. It continues to surprises me that a business can spend well over $100,000 to open their dream business...but never plan on any kind of a budget for marketing themselves to the local consumers (the lifeblood of any business) . You can have the best looking sign, interior, food, etc...but no one will come if they don't know who you are or what you have to offer. A small amount of money can go a long way if a company would only market and advertise themselves correctly. So to all of you business owners out there...if you want your business to survive (and thrive) please do not discount the NECESSITY of marketing/advertising your business. Expecially in todays economic climate... it will ultimately be up to the small businesses to take up the slack of the larger corporations that are going out of business. Wouldn't you prefer that the consumer comes to your store....instead of your competitor who IS advertising?
