I don't know about Memphis being off the First 48, but a new episode was just on Aug 19th, with Connie Justice of the Memphis Unit. I'm not sure if this may be the last one or if there are more to come. I hope not, I too love the Memphis Unit. I do understand why some city officials would feel that this represents a bad image of their city. I do, however, believe that this could generate much interest in people visiting to meet these detectives. It may seem like we are voyeurs, however, many are very interested in the whole aspect of how the crimes are solved. I feel that the First 48 shows the detectives as real people doing what they can to solve the crimes for the victim's families. They show how compassionate these detectives are towards the victims and their families. They are very dedicated police officers. The city of Memphis should be very proud of them and be proud to show them off to the country! To edit the above: I found some information online stating that the Memphis Police Dept pulled the plug on the show. I understand what they were saying with regards to potential problems with cases. This does make sense now. I do believe though that once the cases are solved and those convicted, maybe they could do what the show "Cold Case" (meaning the one on A&E, focusing on real cases), does and have the detectives discuss the cases that they have solved. Anyway, I will miss the detectives. I hope that they continue their good work in solving these crimes for the victims and their families, that is what is important.

Come on to Dallas Mason & Mullins! We need cops who care and are professional! Y'all rock! I can't believe the city of Memphis would cancel their involvement. I have the utmost respect for the entire department even more so after seeing the Lester Street episode, which only served to highlight the enitre units compassion and professionalism. The City of Memphis should be ashamed.

Hay I am nt going to lie but I go home early just to watch Mason she is my ideal and we here in the BAHAMAS think that really sucks for them to take them of the air now I have no reason to wanna visit Memphis. 90% of the people in the bahamas watches the first 48 I made my boyfriend start watchin it because of Mason and Mullins and now their gone that sucks double time. If you want your visitors to have something to look froward to then bring them back.

It would never be the same without those two. I personally don't care if Memphis comes back now. It was my favorite city. How will Sgt. Toney make it without Tony & Caroline? Seeing the Memphis episodes gave me a much better impression of the city than I originally had. In a city with such a very high crime rate year after year, I would tend to think that some of the departments are just drawing a paycheck and pushing the papers each day. To see all of those men and women in the Memphis Homicide Dept work with dedication and determination raised my impression of Memphis.

I heard that memphis city officials said they didn't like the bad publicity memphis was getting and that It gave the city a bad reputation. Since when did memphis have a good reputation?

I feel bad if that is true, Caroline Mason was my favorite with Mullins one of the ones right behind her. What a shame.

Rumor has it that Caroline Mason and Tony Mullins have been transferred out of homicide and no one is saying why. Sounds like jealous administration to me.

Thanks for the update. The Memphis team was actually my favorite. I think when it all comes down to it, the city council is going to look at the numbers. Maybe tourism has gone down or potential visitors are saying that The First 48 episodes made them decide to travel elsewhere.

tiat333 - I couldn't agree with you more. I am one of those ppl who moved north outside of Memphis. It has grown so much here. However, I can still leave my windows open until I go to bed and don't have to worry about the crime. Right after my daughter graduated, she moved back to the Memphis city limits. Less than 2 yrs later, she was the victim of a violent homicide. I had to deal with several depts within the Mphs Police Dept before her case was turned over to Homicide. NONE of the other depts or employees treated me as a human and as compassionately as Homicide did. I was fortunate to have Sgts Merritt and Justice on her case. I am forever in their debt for solving her murder and for the hard work by the whole team. Memphis homicide is the true epitome of dedicated individuals who represent what law enforcement should be. CITY COUNCIL - For ONCE, listen to the community and bring this team back!!!! I don't understand how a solve rate of over 80% makes Mphs look bad. Now, ask me what I think about the city officials who "SUPPOSEDLY" have the best interest of Mphs when they make all their other decisions........... Need I say more?????

To bad the city leaders are backing out, its their own damn fault, as well as Memphis mayor "King" Willie Herenton, things are as bad as they are. The flight out of the city proper is incredible. Neighboring communities such as those south of the border in Mississippi, and in counties north and east of Memphis are seeing tremendous growth. People are not fleeing due to a race thing as "King Willie" would have you believe, yet they flee for fear of their lives. Here we have area's that once annexed by the city, it is a death sentence to that area. Gangs of young people start roaming the area, terrorizing businesses, bringing along with them the drug trade and all that goes with it. That keeps the Memphis Homicide Unit Busy. I hate to say but most do not want to hear the truth, but the truth can set you free. Peace TJ
