Since you are devoted members of the A&E community, we’d like to let you know of some changes that will be taking place on our network discussion boards. Coming this October, we will be moving the A&E discussion boards to an easier, more flexible platform. This exciting update will allow us to improve and expand your experience as a user with improved board functionality and robust member profiles. When the new community is ready, we will be turning off the ability to post here, but you’ll still be able to read the current boards. We have also set up a forum where we’ll be answering questions about the upcoming transition.

I Love this show! Its great to see these guys get some glory! We have a huge problem here in Cali, mayhaps some of the NJ guys can come out here and train some of our Sheriffs? Not putting our guys down, its just we have such a HUGE problem here.

The Show is great I just wish they would stop doing what every other show like this does and put in fake and unrealistic sound effects when cars stop. This shows sound effects are by far the lamest. You don't need them the show is great without them.

Didn't Lt. DiCastro & Lt. O'Connor bring (12 Newark Police officers to Work With ESSEX/UNION ATTF in 1998 - He Also "Brought the first Mobile Data Computers & worked with thefinest officers in the New Jersey !) I am glad the
Essex / Union ATTF is not just towing cars any more!

I Guess the Newark ATTF did a Great job - with little
or no equipment ?
Lt.James O'Connor (Retired on 6/1/04) Commander of Newark Police Auto Theft Task Force accepts the National Police Officer of the Month award from FBI Director Robert Mueller. Awarded For leadership, Valor, and reducing violent crime in the neighborhoods in Newark NJ.
NewarK Police Director Robert Rankin Jr. noted, "Newark's ATTF unit has had a tremendous impact on our overall crime reduction and preventions effort and are certainly deserving of recognition for their dedication and hard work. "I am Proud of the accomplishments of the ATTF which is a testament to the initiative and effective methods to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods, the director concluded.
Under Lt. James O'Connors Leadership (Retired on 6/1/04), the ATTF produced the following results:
Newark NJ Went from #1 in auto Theft to #21 in the Nation
Violent crime was reduced by 25 %.
Violent Gang Related Crimes reduced by 54%
From 5/16/ 1999 to 12/31/2003
543 loaded Firearms Recoverd with arrests
2 Gang members caught selling guns
872 Occupied Stolen autos recovered with 1464 arrests
4 Chop shops uncovered 2 with search warrants
43 Armed Car Jackers arrested
5 Homicide suspects arrested
83 Armed Robbery Suspects arrested
3 Gang members arrested for sexual assault/Kidnapping
765 Narcotics arrests $202,277.90 confiscated
74 incidents were officers were assaulted - resulting in
(1) Detective -Broken neck
(4) Detectives Disabling back injuries. "The cost of Freedom"
Total Arrests: 3164
12,435 Motor vehicle summons

TARGET/ATTF91. I am otj in Hudson County, NJ and I have to say that you guys are completely off base here. Over the past couple of years or so, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the guys on the ATTF. I have seen, heard and read about the great police work that they have done and I would have loved to have had the opportunity to work with them at some point in my career. I have made many contacts in law enforcement over my 20+ years and I have never heard a negative comment made towards the ATTF. That being said, I have to say that they are the exact opposite of you guys. From what I know and have heard from other cops, they are dedicated, hardworking, toughnosed professionals. I've never seen the likes of you two that you have such bitterness and hatred towards a unit that you actually seem to have been a part of at some point in your careers. It's obvious that you probably failed quite a bit during your careers and now you are just plain failing at life as well. It's not surprising to me that you are no longer a part of the ATTF. You yourselves are showing everyone why. Just go quietly into the night. You guys are actually an embarrassment to all of law enforcement when you publicize your problems for all civilians to see. Here's an idea. Why don't you stop hiding behind your screen names and actually contact them to air out your differences? I think we all know the answer to that question don't we? Because you can't. It's not your fault. You just don't know how. You are cowards. You are not professional. You are an embarrassment to the uniform. And to disrespect a Chief of Police. I do not know him and I doubt that you do either. So what's with the disrespect to a fellow cop that wears the uniform of our highest rank? Do us all a favor and just dig yourselves a hole six feet down and pull the dirt over the top of yourselves. You deserve eachother (or yourself), if in fact TARGET and ATTF91 are not one in the same, or at the very least sitting next to eachother, holding hands while you post your garbage. That's right, you haven't done a very good job of disguising that fact. You guys can't do anything right can you? You are bitter failures. In life and on the job I'm sure. And what's with the 7 or so posts since 8/22? Sounds like you guys have a lot of time on your hands. Nothing better to do but be obsessed huh? Sounds about right. Looking foward to your brilliant responses. Good luck ATTF and stay safe out there. I for one will be watching, but for now I'm going back to watching the Mets blow another one.

I have not yet gotten the chance to watch this show, It would seem to me that the guys of ATTF should be upset by the fact that one of the founder of the ATTF doesn't respect them and care to much for them.

old school, 91 and Target..if indeed you arent the same person...as someone who was there in the late 90's and again in the present (although not while filming) i need to speak out..you guys are sad..like the old timers in the barber shop talkin bout when bread was a nickel......
1. while tom decastro was in charge, 60 Minutes, 20/20, FoxFiles, and Americas Most Wanted ALL filmed down there..guess you got some camera time on those shows..
2. as for the name "Target" we all now thats the name of the failed Newark PD unit which tried to emulate the original ATTF and has been re-incarnated and failed time and time again..including when that hump O'Connor tried to take over the whole ATTF unit
(but the Newark cops there were OUTSTANDING)
3. As to the Toy town cops...they have been the BACKBONE of this unit from the start..All the big towns dont want to send anyone..well in a big town ANYONE can find crime in Newark ......digging it up in a small town is harder..BH, Clark, Cranford, Scotch Plains etc have all contributed to ATTF from the START..
4. The task force has been a success. from the time it began, to the present..for you to hate on the current crew shows your immaturity and jeallousy, please grow up......
5. as for the captain he is INDEED stand up, and all about the unit, not himself, and if you had the guts/balls to ID yourself, he d probably take you aside and school you on keeping family problems IN HOUSE.......
now go down to the bar thursday at ten, cry in your beer and tell all your buddies how great YOU were and continue to live in the past

See that is where the problem is. They come and go as they please.....how about the Captain who has been down there longer than most of the guys put together....why isn't he on the show? We know why and that is the reason he is one of the most respected guys around! All results no glory....old school....something to be said for that
