I just loved visiting Maui and Oahu when I went in 1998. It was so relaxing and just beautiful. I so want to go back there. I love the beach and water. Anyone living in Hawaii is lucky. On another note, it is sad that Duane Lee is now divorced. I remember when his wife and kids were coming out to visit, he was so happy and excited to see him. I wish him the very best. I also wish Leland the best in his life. I am glad to hear that they live a normal life because I see them all as normal people just trying to survive and do their job. -- Live life the fullest! Life is too short to have regrets. Live like there is no tomorrow. Laugh like there is no sorrow. Love as if you haven't been hurt before!

Look familiar?

My father taught me to swim when I was 6 months old... Threw me in a pool and I dog paddled... Couldn't even walk, but I swam... He wanted me to learn, because they spent so much time at the beach, lakes and rivers. I have always been a water baby. At least my swimming lesson was not in the dark LOL
Oh yeah, the sand at Sandy Beach is so huge! I love to sit and watch the body and board surfers though...
I like the story about your stellar performance LOL I have never had that happen, but always worried about it.
Last time I was on TBI it looked like fog, but it was actually the sulfur from Kilauea! Hilo side is pretty and green, but wet... Kailua-Kona reminds me of Hollywood LOL I have never seen Leland there, although you know where the office is right off the highway as you drop into Kona.
Are you BBQing at Kailua Monday?

Yes kailua is the perfect beach for na keiki very mellow and soft sand.. no rocks etc.. thats where i started to learn how to swim, well up until i was forced to learn because my dad threw me out of a rowboad on the north shore about 200 ft from shore at about ooh 2 in the morning.. lol.. pitch black lol thats how hawaiians teach their kids to swim.. throw em off a boat . funny how many people said "thats how i learned too" when telling that story here. Yeah it does suck how big island has hardly any coastline. scary to have to jump from lava rocks into deep dark ocean. I didnt even notice if the south sides shorelines shrinking wow thats terrible. I know the north shore is. Kailua boat harbor they have cinder blocks on the sand as a semi wall to try to stop the ocean from coming up.. dont know who thought of that lol.. oh here this 2 foot wall will stop the billions of gallons of ocean from coming up anymore lol.
My bf's from waianae so he used to surf and bodyboard makaha mostly when he was semi pro. Now yeah he'll hit up mostly makapu'u but occasionaly sandys when theres no good waves at maks. Makapu'u is a bodyboarders dream.. perfect for it. Funny story about bodysurfing.. once when in high school still me and a friend were bodysurfing and got pooooounded big time.. we both stood up at the same time to applause and although at first we thought it was for our steller performance, both of our bikini tops had come up.. lol... to which i of course took a bow and threw kisses to my audience lol. haha so shame. Its fun though, you should try it... the trick is to pick beaches that have fine sand not rough sand. Definately dont try bodysurfing at sandys.. i have before and ooooouuuch their sand is like little rocks, i had strawberries all on my knees and legs from it. makapu'u is good for bodysurfing as well as bodyboarding.
I love the big island for visit.. but i dont think i could live there..too scary. Youre not safe anywhere.. if pele wants you she going find you.. u know. its beautiful there though.. and a very nice change from the hustle and bustle city of oahu. And bj penns there oh and dare i say Leland also.. wonder how many "youre objectifying men" comments im gonna get off this one.. lol.

The beach you are speaking about in Kailua is one of my favorites to take company and my grandkids... Good family beach... I like to lay up on the grass and watch them play in the water... At least Oahu has a coast line... I don't care for lava rock dropping off into the ocean (although I hear they are going to open more beaches on TBI)... Yes, I stay on the south shore and there is little beach now, compared to years ago. I keep wondering if the water is soon going to come up in the yard! Your boyfriend probably bodysurfed Sandy Beach... OMG I've always wanted to try that, too, but was afraid to get slammed into the sand! Locals only please... Dangerous! I even told the husband I'd consider TBI because of the land mass... I thought maybe the Parker Ranch would change his mind, since they still do things the old way... No luck. Time will tell. I never think of being confined on any of the islands.... <batting the eyes>

Oh what a wonderful place fantasy land is. We could be sister-inlaws there. Only in fantasy land do you get inlaws that you actually like.

It is a very special place to live.. very easy to get attatched and call it "home". I always worry about global warming and the effects itll have on my home.. for all I know Hawai'i could be atlantis within 20 years. Have you seen kailua beach by the boat ramp lately keka? The oceans come up the coastline atleast 10 feet.... we're already losing our coastlines .
lol yeah i admit ive always wanted to surf north shore also.. my skilll level though confines me haha. My bf used to be a semi pro bodyboarder before me and the kids came into his life.. lol I caught on bodyboarding ok but a busy life ended my surfing lessons short.
I can understand your husbands thoughts on it though.. some people get a little closterphobic by Hawai'i.. i mean it IS the most secluded land mass in the entire world! Nothing but ocean surround you.. its something to get used to i guess.. especially ifyoure used to the mainland where theres security in knowing you can drive somewhere else if you have to. When I go to the mainland i feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable knowing how much land is around me lol. In Hawai'i if theres a natural disaster coming your way theres nothing to do but bear down and hold on for dear life! But give the man a chance keka.. lol.. if anything, you can always do what i do.. flirty, bat your eyes, and use whatcha mama gave ya

My heart is there always... I am only there part time because of business... Right now I am so messed up from leaving 80 degrees and coming back to 40 degrees, it's unreal... Back and forth... One week I am in a tank top and the next a sweat shirt... and back again. Hard on the system...I want to retire there, but time will tell. So many times I have wanted to rip up the return ticket and just stay. I guess everyone is different... My husband comes over about twice a year... He doesn't feel the same way I do... Says the islands are too confining... Not me, I feel at home. I guess I have to dump the husband... LOL

Yes, I love the North Shore... You will get a kick out of this gurl... I was raised in sunny southern CA... Surfed in my teenage years and it was my life... Dreamed of going to Hawaii and surfing the North Shore... All of the famous beaches... I drooled over the photos in the magazines! As an adult I went to Hawaii... My first time rented a jeep (yep, touristy) and had to drive around Oahu... DESTINATION NORTH SHORE! Too bad it was summer time and the waves were FLAT... I stood at Sunset Beach in horror LOL I later learned the seasons and the first time I saw a huge wave, I knew I would never have been good enough to ride it, but what a thrill! I'd love nothing more than to retire up there, up I doubt that I can afford a place... It's so expensive!

It's the only place on earth I feel "relaxed"... No kidding. Between that and the freedom, no wonder the stars come to the islands... I have a friend that gives surf lessons and lives in Haleiwa... She and I were sitting on the beach one day and "Uncle Bryan" (Suratt) was giving Kelsey Grammer's kid lessons... Kelsey had just bought a million dollar home on the north shore. It must be nice.

Oh my appologizes mamvic. mis understood your post. sorry again
Thats definately very true keka. Thats probably the exact reason why theres so many celebrities with homes in Hawai'i, they know we wont bother them. Oprah, Sharon Stone, John Travolta & Kelly Preston, Marc DeCoscos, Tia Carrera, Jason Scott Lee, Bette Midler, John Stamos are a few celebs that have homes in Hawai'i and they also dont ever get mobbed by fans. If they do its not by locals. I even heard that John Travolta and Kelly Preston were opening a Scientology Rehab mainly catering to celebrities because of that...although I dont know where it will be or if its even up and running yet, or even true.
