A&E Discussion Boards Are Moving
Since you are devoted members of the A&E community, we’d like to let you know of some changes that will be taking place on our network discussion boards. Coming this October, we will be moving the A&E discussion boards to an easier, more flexible platform. This exciting update will allow us to improve and expand your experience as a user with improved board functionality and robust member profiles. When the new community is ready, we will be turning off the ability to post here, but you’ll still be able to read the current boards. We have also set up a forum where we’ll be answering questions about the upcoming transition. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. We will be sure to keep you updated as we make the transition.

Yes they do wear uniforms. They are the same uniforms as they wear on the road but they don't have any patches and they don't wear a utility belt. So it is just a plain dark blue uniform.

Thank you LuvMyOfficer1527 for telling us that Wiebelt is back with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. I wish Deputy Wiebelt all the best. I hope that he enjoys being a deputy.

When you attend the police academy, do you where uniforms?

"shots fired" is when the deputy gets a call and the dispatcher lets them know that gun shots have been fired.

No Wiebelt and Norris are not related, they were in the same police academy class together.

Just to update everyone, Wiebelt left JPSO because not too long after Dep. Norris was shot he went on a "shots fired" scene (the AK47) and it was alot for him to have to deal with. However he is back working as a deputy with JPSO. I know this because I read all of these posts and asked my boyfriend who also work on JPSO. So I hope that answers everyone's questions. Any other questions let me know. :)

Well it could be any number of things

Lets bear in mind in that episode

1. He encountered people who had a toy gun, that might have made him crap his pants

2. He encountered some guy with a AK47, whos gun had jammed

3. He mentioned at the start that it was long hours and the pay was not good.

Its just not for some people. There is one thing to do a ride along, one thing to think you want to be a cop and another to get out there on the street.

Only cops know what its like.

He may have just wanted to go back to a more safer life, who knows..

Thousands of people take careers in colleges, come out and quit, or go in a different direction

While personally I would have hung in there

I think its ok for someone to decide if its not for them.

Remember he was just about to get cut loose by himself, maybe he didnt feel up to it, maybe he was extremely nervous.

The camera only showed a few things, He was out there 12 weeks, anything could have happened between him and other cops ( disagreements ), between him and people on the street

Life is more important than a job

But I thought he would have stuck it out... oh well..

Its interesting to see people quit.. Like that Teacher who just didnt cut it, he went back to teaching

I am also curious. I can only hope he didn't decide to go for big bucks with a private military contractor (PMC).

It seems to me that an inordinate number of rookies quit. They had at least two years of LE schooling, maybe an academy, maybe POST. Didn't they know what to expect? Didn't they take ride-alongs, chat with other officers, etc? Sheesh!

OfficerE, I don't want to start to argument but I am curious. Why do you think the TPD is messed up? I noted your objection to the rookie being placed in an undercover operation first day on the job.

Am I the only one who sees that something is messed up with the TPD?
