A&E Discussion Boards Are Moving
Since you are devoted members of the A&E community, we’d like to let you know of some changes that will be taking place on our network discussion boards. Coming this October, we will be moving the A&E discussion boards to an easier, more flexible platform. This exciting update will allow us to improve and expand your experience as a user with improved board functionality and robust member profiles. When the new community is ready, we will be turning off the ability to post here, but you’ll still be able to read the current boards. We have also set up a forum where we’ll be answering questions about the upcoming transition. Stay tuned for more details in the next few weeks. We will be sure to keep you updated as we make the transition.

I agree about your comment of the owners that are chosen have no ambitions of wanting to be involved in the makeover. So to me the big question is how do the business owners that are willing and ready get on the show? I've yet to find out how to sign up. My husband and I own Music Row Picture Framing and Autographes in Hermitage, TN. An would love there help and we're willing to do what is asked of us.

Where is the identity of the show?......

I have watched a majority of the episodes and I think the show is missing an identity. I think the show is setting itself up for being a product placement only show. I think the show has a lot of potential the experts are marketable, but I think the show is holding them back. I have to admit that if Katie was not a part of the show I myself would probably not tune in regularly. She is intelligent and beautiful, certainly would make sense to take the time and market her in the show. The owners that are chosen have no ambitions of wanting to be involved in the makeover, in the end waste time and money and go back to their ways. The show makes the profession of owning a Small business a major mistake.
The Polka Dots show was a great example of why the show lacks identity and a point. The show was about an owner who is Shy and has a debt of $250,000. Majority of the episode was used on how she is in debt; more importantly, no time was spent on why she is a business’s owner. Similar to the other episodes she does not take the advice of the experts, and does not fire any of her workers. Why give her $25,000 in goods when she is going to throw them in the back. I would think the show is going to turn most people off, because the businesses are not changing, and makes them look like they did not deserve the makeover. I would think the experts are just as turned off. The occasional tear from the owners is going to wear off and turn this show into product placement, when it has the potential for great advice and entertainment.
